Washington Apple Commission
Harold Schell is our newest WTFRC Commissioner. He was appointed to position number 4 by the Washington Apple Commission and began his term July 1, 2009. He will assume co-chair duties of the apple advisory committee. Harold grew up in Cashmere, WA, where he graduated from high school in 1972. He attended Highline Community College for two years and then transferred to WSU where he graduated in 1977 with a B.S. in Horticulture. Harold was an apple grower from 1979-2004 and worked at Northwest Wholesale from 1977-1980 as a pest control consultant. He became Head Horticulturalist at Naumes of Washington in 1980 and from there worked as a horticulturalist for various organizations since then. He is currently a Horticulturalist for Chelan Fruit. In 2004 his orchard was leased out. Mr. Schell is married to Kara and has two children, Resa and Calin, and one grandson, Jaxson. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, antique motorcycles and cars, snowmobiling and playing with his grandson.
