Washington Apple Commission
Jim Doornink has been a Commissioner with the Washington Tree Fruit Research Commission since 1984. Jim is the chair of the Commission, whose role it is to understand the history of the Commission and to plan for its future which is critical to its successful operation.
Jim was born in Seattle Washington and was raised in Wapato, WA (Yakima River Basin). He earned a BS in Zoology with an emphasis in chemistry from Washington State University.
Jim spent his adult life in working in the areas of orchard management, horticultural application, medical practice management and construction management. With his wife they currently farm 200 acres of cherries, apricots, peaches, pears and apples, some of which is the same property as farmed by his grandfather.
Jim and his wife have a son and a daughter. In his off time, Jim enjoys electronic/radio, ham radio, camping/canoeing and practical science.
